Two Multi-Event Champions Highlight Annual State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships

SAN ANTONIO (April 3, 2025) – Two athletes came away with a pair of championships and Norfolk State’s Christian Ings punctuated the night with an electrifying slam dunk to round out the 36th annual State Farm College Slam Dunk and 3-Point Championships Thursday night at Frost Bank Center.

Tyler McGhie of UCSD, Alyssa Durazo-Frescas of Grand Canyon and Ings took home individual event titles, while the trio of Durazo-Frescas, Missouri’s Caleb Grill and Murray State’s Kylen Milton opened the evening by winning the Dave’s Hot Chicken Hot Shot Challenge.

McGhie was consistent from the start of the E*TRADE Men’s 3-Point Championship, posting scores of 20 and 21 in Rounds 1 and 2 before outscoring Grill, 20-15, to take home the event championship.

Durazo-Frescas shot her way to the Celsius 3-Point Championship with an incredible final-round performance. She made all five money balls, finishing with 23 points to hold off Alabama’s Aaliyah Nye to take home her second event title of the evening.

In the Skechers Battle of the Champions, it was McGhie who caught fire late in his round to defeat Durazo-Frescas, 23-18, to earn his second event victory of the competition.

Ings separated himself to take home the King’s Hawaiian Slam Dunk Championship. He posted a perfect score in the first round and finished the second round with the top two-dunk score among the four semifinalists. In the event final, Ings soared over Iowa’s Payton Sandfort for an emphatic finish, recording a near-perfect score to earn the event victory.
